Lead Head Start Teacher; Full Time Days
Genesis Early Learning Center is seeking an experienced, passionate and organized Lead Head Start Teacher join our team and work in our recently renovated Preschool Room. Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) and have at least one year of teaching experience. This is a full-time, year-round position with a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, retirement savings plan, paid time off and holidays. This job requires but is not limited to supervising teacher assistants and per diem staff to ensure compliance with and implementation of Head Start Program Performance Standards, DCYF Regulations, Rhode Island Department of Education Early Learning Standards, Genesis Personnel Policies, The Creative Curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Caring For Our Children to ensure that all children have the opportunity for a high quality, nurturing, and safe learning experience. 30 hrs/year professional development.
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field The Lead Head Start Teacher will have:
• Ability to model and maintain the utmost level of confidentiality, respecting and preserving the dignity and privacy of children, families, staff, and program operations.
• Ability to create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned to Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards
• Possess good communication, reading, writing and analytical skills are required. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents, children, community representatives and volunteers in a professional and respectful manner, Bi-lingual ability a plus.
• Demonstrated classroom management and curriculum planning experience.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be certified in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
• Head Start experience preferred.
• Physical ability to perform tasks, including but not limited to, bend and lift thirty (30) pounds, climbing stairs, and be physically able to meet the challenges of caring for young children old i.e. be able to sit on floor with children. Ability to see and hear required.
• Local travel for home visiting is required.

Position Summary: The Career Coach is responsible for providing group workshops and 1-1 and coaching to workforce training participants and ESOL students in order to support their progress along their individual career paths. Specific responsibilities include program recruitment and intake, data collection and monitoring, and engagement of current participants and past graduates. The Career Coach develops and maintains relationships with employers, postsecondary education/training providers, and industry organizations that support the development of career pathways for participants in Genesis Center’s training programs. S/he remains attuned to workforce trends, postsecondary education and training opportunities, and best practices in providing effective employment, retention, and advancement coaching to adults with barriers to employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
Collaborate with enrollment team to provide screening and assessment for job training program applicants
Ensure applicant skills and interests align to employment goals
Support participants in exploring careers, preparing resumes, and developing strong interview skills
Provide class workshops and 1-1 coaching to facilitate the development of knowledge, essential skills, and attitudes necessary for entering, retaining, and advancing employment
Document participant progress in job search, employment outcomes, retaining employment, continued education/training, and career advancement in multiple databases; submit data reports as requested
Work closely with employers and training instructors to ensure that clients meet job requirements and are eligible for employment following program completion
Stay attuned to trends in the RI job market, particularly regarding healthcare and hospitality
Leverage client skills, interests and preferences to develop individualized career maps
Develop systems that facilitate transitions to next-step opportunities for education and training (higher education, vocational training, GED/high school equivalency, etc.)
Monitor graduate employment and education outcomes for an 18- to 36-month period to support employment retention, continued education, and career advancement
Design, implement and use program evaluation procedures to assess and improve the effectiveness of services, including evaluation of outcomes
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications: (includes professional & legal standards, knowledge, skills and demonstrated abilities required)
BA or BS Degree or equivalent experience in related field
Proficiency with computers and office technology
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate individuals with barriers to employment
Willingness to persevere and overcome challenges
Bilingual (English-Spanish) a plus
Experience working with diverse populations
Sensitivity and commitment to the Genesis Center mission; understanding and appreciation of special problems and stressors of refugee and immigrant families; respect for cultural differences
Ability to work independently and in a team and to be flexible and accept change
Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of work, including professional development
Ability to prioritize, organize & control work flow and manage data for timely and accurate completion of projects
Hours & Attendance Requirements:
FT M-F as assigned; may need to work some evenings or weekends.
